The Celon method is already used in many medical practices and clinics throughout the world. The method is fully developed, user friendly and exhibits a high degree of safety. As minimally invasive ambulatory procedure, it is not only particularly gentle to the patient but very efficient as well.

Snoring
The main cause of habitual snoring is the vibration of slackened soft palate musculature. By means of selective penetration using an RFITT-applicator in one or two sessions, the ENT-specialist is able to coagulate the submucous excess tissue of the soft palate musculature, which is discharged by the patient's own body within a few weeks. The muscles of the soft palate shrink in the region treated. This selective cicatrisation (scaring) brings about an additional tautening of the tissue. The ultimate effect is that vibration of the soft palate is significantly restricted and the primary cause of habitual snoring eliminated to a large extent |

Sleep Apnea Syndrome
The Celon method has also been successfully used for patients suffering from mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) as a result of enlarged or slackened pharyngeal and lingual muscles. In such cases, combined treatment of appropriate sections of muscle at the base of the tongue and the soft palate is carried out with the purpose of reducing their volume. Treatment of the base of the tongue should only be performed in conjunction with the option of a 24 hour residential supervision period. |

Uvulopalatoplasty
Where a considerable excess of mucous membrane, so-called webbing, or a very large soft palate is present, a shortening of the uvula and soft palate mucosa may be medically indicated. Celon’s micro-UPP (Uvulopalatoplasty) provides a gentle excision procedure for this indication that can be used successfully on the palatine arch and an enlarged uvula. This intervention can also be carried out quickly and under local anesthesia. |

Tonsils
Where patients are afflicted with hyperplasia of the palatine tonsils, the result of frequent tonsillitis, for example, complete removal of the tonsils is not always medically indicated. The Celon method provides the ENT-specialist with a gentle ambulatory procedure that retains the function of the tonsils. In such cases, the lymphatic tissue within the tonsils is coagulated using the appropriate bipolar RFITT-applicator. This treatment is of lower risk and associated with less pain than tonsillotomy. Bleeding is practically eliminated – important in the treatment of children, for example. The effect is a clear reduction in the volume of the tonsils after the thermonecrosis has healed. |

Enlarged nasal concha
Treatment of nasal concha hyperplasia is via RFITT generated over the entire length of the concha within their internal tissue. This way, the Celon method affords the gentlest possible protection of the ciliated epithelium and mucous membrane, important for the function of the nose. A pronounced volume reduction of the nasal concha occurs seven to ten days after treatment. The effect is that the respiratory passage available for breathing is widened and nasal respiration by the patient returns to normal. |
